Movie by Story of Stuff entitled The Story of Change
The Story of Change

We at have  partnered with The Story of Stuff to help distribute The Story of Change which is a short movie about stepping out of our consumer mindset and into full power as citizens to build a better future.

We have already done a lot as consumers to attempt to tackle the daunting environmental challenges we face. We now carry our own shopping bags to reduce the plastic garbage that chokes the oceans and landfill sites. We buy brands of soaps and shampoos that have no formaldehyde. We use energy saver lightbulbs to reduce global warming.

As good as these actions are, better shopping isn’t going to solve our problems. Much more is urgently needed.

Annie Leonard and her team at The Story of Stuff are convinced that:

if we really want to build a better future, we have to move beyond voting with our dollars and come together to demand rules that work. That’s the lesson we learned when we looked back at a series of effective movements for change, from the U.S. civil rights movement to the environmental victories of the 1970s. They didn’t just pester people to perfect their daily choices; they said we will work together until the problem is solved.

We’re convinced that history is on our side. So let’s get to work and make the kind of change we know is possible……our real power to create a fair, healthy and sustainable economy lies not in the individual choices we make at the store, but in coming together as citizens to build that better future.

The launch of the movie also includes the Changemaker Challenge, a platform for Story of Stuff Community members to share their action ideas and commitments. BoomerWarrior is proud to be a part of the Story of Stuff Community.

“We hope both The Story of Change and these platforms will inspire tens of thousands of people to step out of their consumer-selves and into their citizen-selves, ready to make some big change in the years ahead” says Annie Leonard. “We’re going to do everything we can to make that happen.”
