Pope Francis says that we all have an obligation to take action. We can’t let complacency or politics stand in the way of progress.

As the CEO of The Climate Reality Project, I’m working along with our chairman, Al Gore, to unite people like the thousands gathered at the National Mall to stop climate change and create a safe and healthy future for our planet. A future we’re proud to give our children. A future where everyone has the chance to thrive.

We know that climate change is the moral challenge of our time. Together, we need to make sure world leaders know it too and understand Pope Francis’s message that we all have an obligation to take action. We can’t let complacency or politics stand in the way of progress.

We stand with Pope Francis in telling our leaders that we have a moral imperative to act on climate change.

For the sake of our families.

For the sake of the most vulnerable.

For the sake of the beautiful planet we share.

Today, you can help. By clicking here, you can sign a petition demanding a strong international climate agreement at the upcoming UN talks in Paris. If we speak with one voice and one message, our leaders have to listen. So please add your name here to demand climate action from world leaders.

We’re sending a strong message to Congress that [North] Americans from all walks of life demand action on climate change. By signing our petition, you’ll send this same message to world leaders too.

This December, world leaders will meet in Paris to determine the future of our planet. We’re uniting voices around the world to deliver one simple message: Take Climate Action Now.

Zero Global Warming Pollution! Zero Extreme Poverty!

JOIN US IN DEMANDING THAT WORLD LEADERS SIGN A STRONG AGREEMENT AT THE PARIS CLIMATE NEGOTIATIONS IN DECEMBER

Thank you for making your voice heard. Working together, we can – and will – solve the climate crisis!

  1. Well Rolly I’m gonna take this time to talk about Climate Reality. You may know that I am also a member of the group, though I be and obstinate member. Which I very much regret being that way. It’s very simple really, CR takes the stance that we can continue with economic growth, and also stands with corporations. And in my stubbornness I can’t get past this. Though it may not seem like it, I have tried hard to be more accepting. It’s a battle within me, not just with CR, but the general mindset of all NGO’s.

In the end I may likely see that I should have tried harder at this acceptance and should have joined in and have gone with the consensus. I believe the consensus of science, what’s wrong with this the “economic growth” consensus? That’s where it gets hard for me to understand why it exist among NGO’s cuz it’s so danged plain to see, we simply cannot continue to produce and consume the way we have in the past, NOT EVEN CLOSE! It’s the old,” magnitudes = solutions” equation. CR’s and all other solutions simply do not match the magnitude of our situation, again, not even close.

OK well nevertheless I will continue to work on this acceptance, I think the work you are doing here with your site is very beneficial to the cause, always good subjects and articles. Please keep that up.

Hey I’m gonna leave a link here to an article on my blog,,”Seeking an End to Chaos”. If you’d like to read it you can skip the 1st part and jump to “Concern 2”. It addresses in detail what I’m talking about here.

    • Danny – you’re not the only person to believe strongly that our current mindset of perpetual economic growth is not sustainable. Naomi Klein is certainly the strongest proponent of the death spiral capitalism has put us in. Using renewable energy to continue chronic growth will be cleaner but even then we will continue our extraction industries only this time with cleaner fuel. But we will still run out of resources albeit a little slower.

Climate Reality is doing good work but there are several major issues it is not addressing such as overpopulation, animal agriculture and of course the thirst for economic growth.

I will look at your link.

Thanks for your continued support – much appreciated.

  2. It is interesting to watch how many people are responding positively to Pope Francis’ climate message as he toured Cuba and the US.

It is also interesting to see that the US has blown the whistle on Volkswagen for cheating the emissions test (which of course includes all their subsidiaries,Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, ans Škoda ). It raises the awareness of just how polluting our vehicles have been!
There are bound to be other companies also covering up truths.

Let’s face it, if the manufacturers have to lie to cover up the fact that they cannot reduce emissions from fossil fuel combustion, it is time for governments to legislate for new technologies to power our transportation needs! Otherwise, the consumer is unable to make correct choices. Most Volkswagen car owners thought they were investing in cars with reduced CO2 emissions, especially on the diesel cars. Turns out that while CO2 might be a bit lower, toxic chemicals, like Benzene are higher (and harmful to us). It seems that it is the things that are not revealed by companies, are as insidious as lying. It is time for honesty to return to politics. Governments have a responsibility to provide healthy infrastructure for all people. If they don’t do this, and instead continue to promote only the economics of companies at any cost, and turn a blind eye as to how companies get their profits by cutting corners and causing ecocide, then they are immoral and we have no need of them.
